Worship at Zion

Worship Services

Zion offers a variety of worship services and styles to help you in your weekly worship and communication with God. All Sunday worship services at Zion include Holy Communion. All baptized Christians are welcome at the communion table.

Victory

Traditional ELW and Contemporary ELW Based Worship

Every Sunday our 10:00am Worship Service is based on either the worship settings from the new Evangelical Lutheran Worship (ELW), or a more contemporary version led by our Praise Band (1st & 3rd Sundays of the month).

The traditional worship setting is simple and dignified. Most Sundays one or more of our choirs or other musical group will offer their talents to help lead worship.

Baptism

Lutherans believe that baptism is a sacrament of the church, the gathered community of Jesus Christ. Thus we at Zion prefer to have baptisms be part of one of the regular worship services on a Sunday morning. Baptism is the Sacrament of initiation into God’s family, into the entire Christian church.

Baptisms for adults or children can be scheduled for the service on most Sundays. Please contact Pastor Mike to schedule a time of instruction and an appropriate time for baptism.

Music Groups

Senior Choir

Our Senior Choir provides special music almost every Sunday during the school year and for special services. Its music is selected to harmonize with the Bible texts or theme, and the music style will vary from ancient hymns of the church, through the great choral masterpieces of the past, on to fresh and contemporary choral music of today. Rehearsals are Wednesday evenings at 7:30pm and all singers from high school age on up are welcome.

Kids of the Kingdom

Children of Sunday School age are invited to join our wonderful little choir. We are currently averaging 6 kids particpating each week. Practice is 11:15 am on Sunday (following our worship service) in a classroom down the hall from the sanctuary. Any Sunday School age child is free to come whenever they want to!

Praise Band

Our Praise Band often leads the worship service, and often accompanies the Sunday School singing time.  Our Praise Band is composed of four lead singers and one or two guitars, mandolin, bass and keyboard. They are currently seeking a drummer and an additional guitar player. They practice every Wednesday evening at 8:30 pm.   Sometimes other musicians join them for special musical offerings.

On any given Sunday, their music may range from old-time Gospel to some of the newest contemporary Christian music, from camp songs to the best modern liturgies.

Zion Instrumentalists (ZIs)

Zion is blessed to have a number of high school and college student and former student musicians and even a few professional musicians who enjoy using their instruments and talents to worship and praise God. Brass, woodwind, percussion, and string musicians bring their ensemble talents together especially at festival worship services and at other times as soloists or to accompany other musical groups.
